An adventure you will never forget! We will organize an MTB cycling trip in Uganda in collaboration with Velo Afrique. After several successful editions in Uganda, we will once again visit this beautiful country for a mountain bike route in collaboration with Velo Afrique. We follow the White Nile from Lake Victoria to Murchison Falls. What can you expect? An accessible and easily accessible route with cozy base camps and breathtaking views of the Nile.

Practical points

Participation costs: For you as a participant, the travel costs amount to 2500 euros. This covers the costs in Uganda. We also ask you to raise at least 1.500 euros in sponsorship funds, which will go entirely to education in Uganda.

Number of participants: There are a maximum of 30 places available during this event. This ensures that we can provide good guidance.

In Uganda, there's always something adventurous to experience: waterfalls, rhinos, baboons, and an authentic ferry. Previous participants describe the last part of our route as unforgettable, where you even cycle among wild animals, while a herd of elephants watches on!

During the journey, we also visit one of the projects of Project Held. This gives you a personal impression of the difference we make together. For us, this is the first time that we are undertaking this adventure in this way, but with the experiences and organization of Velo Afrique it will be an unforgettable experience with help for education for the children of our projects!

Program and trail

We offer the experienced cyclist a fantastic biking adventure along the Nile, from Lake Victoria to the Murchison Falls. Along the way, we encounter wild animals and immerse ourselves in the local color.

Home - Entebbe - Jinja

The cycling trip starts from Entebbe. We have previously chosen that you book your ticket according to your wishes and can schedule time before and after the tour. From Entebbe we will meet a bus transfer and travel to Jinja where the tour begins.

Jinja - Jinja

We started at the mouth of the White Nile. Here we see the Nile leaving Lake Victoria. West of Jinja we drive through rainforest, tea and sugar cane plantations. We will have our afternoon stop on the shore of Lake Victoria.

Jinja - Bukomba​

We cross the Nile using small boats. Then, we continue riding on a combination of gravel and single tracks that guide us along the Nile. We ride over the new Isimba dam.

Bukomba - Kazwama

The first 14km are similar to the previous stage, then we ride 55km on a red dirt road to Lake Kyoga. At Lake Kyoga, we cross 9km with the local ferry. From the other side, we ride another 16km to our campsite.

Kazwama - Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

We start the day with 14km of red dirt road to Nakasongola, where we follow the asphalt road for 1km. Remember: Keep to the left! After the town center, we continue for 50km on an old abandoned sandy road. Caution: At the end of this road, we cross a busy main road. Then we ride another 7.5km to the entrance of the Rhino Park. Upon arrival in groups, we gather for 'Rhino tracking on bike'.

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary - Ibuje

After 7.5km off-road, we again cross the same busy main road as the day before. We continue for 8km on the dirt road until we reach Kibangya, where we take the main road to cross the Kafu River. After a stretch of asphalt, we find ourselves on a track that leads us to Masindi Port. There, we gather to cross the Nile together with a ferry. On the other side of the Nile, we continue on a red dirt road to our basecamp in Igoti. Here, we also visit our new social project.

Ibuje - Karuma

From Itwara we drive along the Nile to Karuma Falls. After a short stop at the bridge over the Nile, we continue to the entrance of the park. Meet at the entrance of Murchison Falls National Park. We drive in a group through the park to the lodge.

Karuma - Paraa

We drive all day through Murchison Falls National Park. Keep your eyes open! The group is accompanied by armed rangers. Deviating from the route is not permitted. In some areas the vegetation is high, limiting visibility and making it difficult to spot wildlife. Always remain calm and do not make any unexpected movements towards the animals.

Paraa - Entebbe

Bustransfer to Entebbe. Visit Project Held children's home. During this visit you can experience for yourself what difference the amount you raised can make for these children.

Rest day with the choice of taking a 5 kilometer walk in a village or going to the market. A visit to the orphanage is also possible with more insight into the Ins and Outs of the project.
